Two bedroom budget 17th century cottage near Allonby in Cumbria close to the beach and all amenities, featuring low ceilings, original beams and plenty of historic charm.

Embrace tradition with a stay in one of the area’s oldest properties, a delectable 17th century cottage that features low ceilings, original beams and plenty of historic charm.

Benefiting from a prime position on the Solway Coast, this property makes the ideal base for making the most of land and sea in the area. The sand dunes, just 0.5 miles away, are a site of scientific interest with plenty of fascinating wildlife in residence, whilst walks along the coastline offer views over to Scottish mountains and across the Irish sea. Golfers will love Silloth on Solway Golf Club – Great Britain and Ireland’s No.1 Golf Course under £100 (5 miles). You’re also not far from the impressive Lake District National Park, the brink of which is just 12 miles away. Venture inland to explore the waters of Bassenthwaite (15.5 miles) or Derwentwater (22.5 miles) or perhaps embrace a Lakeland fell with a long walk up Skiddaw (21 miles).

Despite the aged beauty of this property, the interior has been lovingly updated to provide an entirely contemporary place to stay. Step over the threshold to discover the entrance hall with space for boots and coats. From here you can find the shared bathroom with a WC, shower and stylish free-standing bath. Sink into the welcome pack of toiletries and soak aching and sore muscles at the end of a long day. Continue through to the kitchen, a modern space with fridge/freezer, Range cooker, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. On this floor you’ll also find two ever-cosy sitting rooms. The first of which benefits from a dining table and ambient wood burner, the perfect spot to unwind together and watch the TV/DVD. The second is a similarly inviting room which benefits from a double sofa bed, perfect for guests who find the stairs too steep or bedroom ceilings too low . Venture upstairs via a steep farmhouse staircase to find two bedrooms hidden under the property’s eaves. Both presented with low-ceilings and stunning beams, these bedrooms make up a generous double and stylish twin – perfect for everyone catching their forty winks.

Similarly spacious outside, this property promises an enclosed garden with lawn and patio along with a garage. The garage is a handy spot for storing bikes or sporting equipment, whilst the lawn is ideal for al fresco dining. There’s also a handy outdoor tap for cleaning muddy paws and boots before heading inside.
