Sleeping six guests, the three-bedroom abode has a charm all of its own, while also exuding style and comfort. From here, wander the pretty village streets, pausing in shops and finding places to dine out. Take a trip along the West Lancashire Light Railway, from Hesketh, 5 miles away, or visit the National Trust’s Rufford Old Hall, a splendid Tudor building, set in landscaped gardens, 3 miles from the cottage. Plan a day out to Southport, 12 miles away, to go to the beach, walk along the pier and take the children to the model railway village.

Make your way into this gorgeous three-storey cottage to find its ground floor is an inviting, open-plan kitchen/diner, with slate tiles and an open fire that you can stoke up on autumn and winter days. Prepare meals in here for your party, dine at the table together, have coffee up at the breakfast bar and relax on the sofa as the fire blazes. There’s also a sofa in here if the cook needs company. Climb the stairs to the first floor of the property to discover a small lounge, with a TV, as well as two king-size bedrooms, each with a gorgeous four-poster bed. A pretty family bathroom, with an elegant freestanding bath and is also here. Continue up to the second floor to the beautiful main lounge, with its vaulted ceiling, wooden floor and exposed brickwork. Relax in here together in the evening in front of a good film on the TV or DVD player. A further super-king-size bedroom and another family bathroom are also situated at this level.
