The historic fishing port of Porthleven makes a wonderful base for exploring this section of the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is 3 miles of sweeping beach sitting behind the property – a popular spot for experienced surfers – while the town has a selection of craft shops, galleries, cafes, restaurants, and even its own food festival. For a more tranquil beach experience, head to Praa Sands (5.5 miles), or travel 9 miles to the iconic, castle-topped St Michael’s Mount and Mount’s Bay. The entire area is a delight for walkers and nature lovers, especially Lizard Point (14 miles), the most southerly point of England, while art lovers will want to cross the peninsula to the picturesque fishing port of St Ives (16 miles).

This characterful cottage has been fully refurbished with excellent attention to detail throughout. The front door leads into the open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner, which is light and bright with traditional beamed ceilings. The fully fitted kitchen curves around one end of the room, offering everything you need to cater at home. There’s a dining table for two next to the stairs and a cosy lounge area with a comfortable sofa and door leading to the veranda. Upstairs, there’s an elegant double bedroom with sea views, and a shower room.

Outside, the spacious veranda has an enviable south-facing location, capturing the best of the sun. There’s a bistro table and chairs for dining alfresco or enjoying a sundowner while enjoying those spectacular sea views.
