Widemouth Bay is a popular swimming and surfing beach on the North Cornish coast south of Bude. The beach is patrolled by lifeguards in the summer holiday season making it an attractive spot for families renting child friendly cottages near the seafront. If you’ve been meaning to take up surfing as a pastime or are looking to hone your existing skills there are several surf schools at Widemouth Bay that will set you off on the right foot or take you to the next level. The southern end of the bay is called Black Rock Beach and is popular for the more experienced surfer as it offers a combination of shore and reef breaks.
This long stretch of sandy beach is well catered for with several cafes and shops nearby and if you are planning on travelling with pets the southern end of Widemouth Bay is dog friendly all year round. Self-catering accommodation is relatively easy to secure however the best cottages in Widemouth Bay are obviously booked well in advance. To book one of the cottages on or near the beachfront you’ll need to contact the owner or agent direct, remembering to ask about any late deals or special offers especially if you are holidaying outside of July or August. These self-catering cottages are suitable for large groups, families or couples; just be sure to secure your rental in advance to avoid disappointment.
