West Wales is blessed with one of the most beautiful coastlines in Britain, with beaches that will blow your mind and pretty coastal villages filled with sea-washed holiday homes, castles and harbours. Not to mention the overwhelming variety of exciting outdoor activities on offer. One of the most prominent areas is the Gower, the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where award-winning beaches make for some of the best outdoor playgrounds in Wales, if not the UK for that matter. A stones throw away is the famous vibrant playground of Swansea, teeming with places of interest, great cafes, pubs and restaurants and a host of activities to suit both young and old. Further north is Carmarthenshire, the land of historical wonders, natural beauty and fabulous cuisine, including the stunning Carmarthen Bay, which is home to castles and some say the county's longest and loveliest beaches. Next is Pembrokeshire, home to Britain’s only national coastal park with coastal paths that climb and descend around cliff tops which open onto golden bays and hidden coves filled with wildlife and historical sites, as well as the odd friendly pub.
There's more blue flag beaches here than you can poke a stick at and the resorts are cool and classy, especially Newport, Tenby and St David's. Then of course there’s Cardigan Bay, with its trendy harbour town resorts and spectacular cliffs, seas views and wildlife. So as you can see there’s plenty to keep your gang occupied, now you just need some where to stay. The beach holiday cottages in West Wales listed here will suit a range of group sizes, budgets and quality expectations with a number of cheap cottages to rent as well as the upmarket large group luxury cottages in West Wales, many with sea views and just a few minutes walk to the beach. Families looking for child friendly or pet friendly cottages are also catered for, so no need to leave the kids or your faithful hound behind.
