Watchet is an historic and lively seaside town next to Exmoor National Park, in Somerset. It has its own lovely marina and port and is filled with period houses, cottages, shops, cafes and pubs and also boasts two museums. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, thanks to Exmoor National Park offering lots of outdoor activities, including scenic walks and wildlife watching (red deer are a regular feature). Then there is the stunning coastline, a paradise of cliffs and beaches, including some fossil combing havens such as Hellwell Bay and West Street Beach. These shores have the second highest tidal rise in the world, so the waters come in incredibly fast. The local beach is lovely and perfect for watching the sunset on the seafront enjoying locally made cider and homemade ice cream. The self-catering Watchet cottages here include pet friendly cottages and family cottages with children welcome.
