Shaldon Seaside Accommodation

Shaldon is a lovely coastal village that sits on the south side of the River Teign, opposite Teignmouth. It is not officially part of the English Riviera but probably should be as it shares the same microclimate and is further sheltered by the Ness, a hunk of red sandstone cliff. Shaldon is very picturesque and made-up of grand Georgian town houses, traditional thatched cottages and hidden little lanes. Many refer to it as the ‘up and coming’ Salcombe, but in reality it is a fabulous holiday destination in its own right. Its attractions include a Zoo, a nature reserve and the Homeyards Botanical Gardens, which have a fabulous folly castle. There are also loads of pubs, cafes and shops, and if that’s not enough there is a daily ferry to Teignmouth where there is plenty more going on. Shaldon also offers two beaches, one on the river where dolphins are often spotted and another award winning beach by the sea. The stunning South West coastal path also runs through the village and leads to the nature reserve at Labrador Bay.
