Without doubt one of Cornwall’s best kept secrets, Porthcurno on the South Coast of Cornwall is home to one of the most beautiful coves in the South West with its soft sand and emerald green water attracting beach lovers from far and wide. Porthcurno is close to the Minack Theatre and the Telegraphy Museum, both providing interesting entertainment for all ages and there are of course a number of popular seaside resorts nearby including Mousehole and Penzance. Although the beach is patrolled by lifeguards (check out our Porthcurno Beach Guide) during the summer the sand falls away steeply once you enter the sea so it’s perhaps more suited to experienced swimmers; the nearby stream which feeds into the sea is ideal for children to paddle in. If you’re staying in pet friendly holiday rentals and you’ve got your faithful hound in tow be aware that there is a ban on dogs during the summer holiday season so you may want to take your dog to one of the nearby beaches or coastal paths to stretch its legs.
