Pentewan is an idyllic little coastal village which sits south of St Austell right in the middle of Cornwall's southern coast, an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This location makes for an excellent base from which to discover the rest of this magnificent county, as it is relatively close to all the main attractions including the Eden Project and The Lost Gardens of Heligan as well as a number of picturesque resorts, seaside villages including Mevagissey and nature reserves. This historic village wraps proudly around a hill called 'The Round', where the remains from an Iron Age settlement can be found and its sturdy harbour boasts a medieval heritage, which was upgraded thanks to a booming china clay trade in the early 1800's.
There is a lovely broad sandy beach with a kiosk, which is ideal for bathing and where all water sports are on offer, including surfing, skiing and sailing. This beach also links to the South West Coast Path where you can enjoy the Pentewan Leisure Trail. If you are thinking of renting Pentewan pet friendly cottages be aware that no dogs are allowed on the local beach between April and November, however there are a number of beaches nearby that accept pets.
