Perched between St Ives and Lands End is the friendly village of Pendeen, home to the beautiful Portheras Cove, a soft sandy beach which can be reached via the coastal path. Once a famous tin producing area the once active mines are long gone but the restored remains of some still remain and make a worthwhile and popular tourist attraction. Another interesting place to visit is the Trinity House lighthouse, now operating as mainly a tourist attraction, the lighthouse looks out over a headland that is home to many a shipwreck from days gone by. This relatively unknown holiday destination is the ideal romantic weekend escape or family getaway where the theme is more about relaxation, walking and discovering rather than adrenaline fuelled water sports and nightlife. Check out the Pendeen self-catering coastal cottages here, the perfect bolt hole for couples or families with children.
