The village has a few good shops and pubs and many of the village cottages and houses are made of stone. This is a beautifully peaceful place to stay and there are many opportunities to spot local wildlife. The local wood makes for a lovely scenic walk and there are some notable county houses, museums, landmarks and castles worthy of visiting in nearby Cragside and Alnwick.
