Galway Holiday Accommodation by the Beach with Sea Views

The dramatic and varied western coastline of Ireland, known as County Galway is located in the province of Connacht. It offers fantastic ocean scenery around Connemara and the shores of Galway Bay are spectacular, not to mention the offshore islands of Aran. Galway also has a freshwater lake, the Lough Corrib, which is definitely worth a visit. Beach lovers have a fabulous choice of beaches along this coast, some of which are considered to be the best in West Ireland, many offering holiday accommodation right on the seafront. Near Roundstone in Connemara there are two stunning beaches; Dogs Bay and Gurteen Bay, both of which offer white sand, sheltered safe waters and unprecedented views of Errisbeg and the surrounding lush headland. Near the city of Galway in Salthill there are a string of gorgeous little beaches of all shapes and sizes located in a Special Area of Conservation, known collectively as Salthill Beach that has Blue Flag facilities and lifeguards.

Nearby there is Silver Strand Beach, an excellent spot for young families to play and bathe, which also offers all the facilities including lifeguards in the summer months. Further from the city is Coral Beach, which as it name depicts, has very fine coral and soft sand and is ideal for kids in the summer. The Aran Islands also have some noteworthy beaches, so if you get the chance to do a bit of island hopping head for Kilmurvey Beach on Inis Mor – it’s all white sand and transparent blue water, dunes and an idyllic old pier from which you can dive into the sea.
