Dunster is a beautifully preserved village in Somerset that lies on the Bristol Channel, not far from Minehead near Exmoor National Park and Watchet. It makes for quite an idyllic holiday destination thanks to its ambrosia vales that burst with colourful wildlife including Red Deer, wild ponies and birds of prey. But most importantly Dunster is only half a mile from the local beach, which has some lovely chalets and great facilities including a shop, tennis court and putting green. This is a beautiful shoreline on the Avill Estuary, the gateway to West Somerset's stunning coastline of cliffs, beaches and natural harbours. The village itself is an historic monument with hundreds of listed buildings, notably the National Trust Mediaeval Castle and the Old Yarn Market, owing to this town's major heritage in wool trade. This is a cultured town with a bustling high street filled with specialist shops, restaurants and pubs. The self-catering Dunster cottages listed here include child friendly holiday cottages ideal for family beach holidays and pet friendly cottages near the beachfront. To see more options you may want to take a look at all of the Somerset cottages by the sea listed on Beachlets, many that allow pets.
