Charlestown is a World Heritage stone and white-washed harbour town in South Cornwall that has escaped the commercialisation inflicted on some of the neighbouring resorts like St Austell and Mevagissey. Charlestown still has a working harbour, exporting china clay and has a bustling charm with lots to entertain a regular crowd in the summer months. This is an idyllic setting for families to enjoy and explore the 'Cornish Riviera' as this coastal region is sometimes referred to. Apart from the local beach, which has parking, cafes, pubs and toilets there are two other gorgeous beaches that can be reached by foot from the South West Coastal Path, namely Duporth and Porthpean. Please note there are restrictions in regards to taking dogs onto any of these beaches, so if your plan is to hire one of the pet friendly cottages in Charlestown listed here you should check first what restrictions apply and during what time of year. Hiring any of these self-catering cottages is simple; just contact the property manager direct to check availability, rates and to book online.
