The ancient town of Caernarfon sits in the Menai Straits of Gwynedd, just across the water from the Isle of Anglesey and north west from the Snowdonia National Park. It is a bustling port brimming with life and entertainment with lots to offer tourists and weekend visitors, including quaint little cafes, restaurants and shops plus plenty of excellent sports facilities including great golf courses. The town is not only steeped in layers of Celtic and Roman history, it also exudes charming Welsh history in the shape of ancient Welsh traditions and sites, including an enormous fort and castle. This is an excellent location to rent a cosy cottage from which to explore these stunning natural surroundings and you’ll find many beautiful beaches strewn along the sheltered shores of the wooded Menai estuary.
The family friendly sandy beaches tend to be vast and wild; perfect for long walks and plenty of privacy. That said, Caernarfon Beach and Dinas Dinlle, although duney and spectacularly long still offer a line of shops and cafes where you can while the hours away admiring the spectacular views. Choose from the Caernarfon self-catering cottages listed here which includes not only child friendly cottages suitable for families with kids, but also pet friendly cottages and holiday retreats for couples on a seaside romantic escape.
