Boscastle on the north coast of Cornwall is one of the county's most romantic spots. A medieval fishing village hidden in a perfect natural harbour between Bude and Tintagel that has inspired many artists and authors, including the renowned Thomas Hardy. This 'Area of Outstanding Beauty' is protected by the National Trust and attracts cultured visitors to its picturesque rugged inlet, with its wooden fishing boats and pretty historic village. There is a curious Museum of Witchcraft, the Boscastle pottery shop, a National Trust visitor centre and access to the South West Coastal Path which offers magnificent views over the Cornish shores that were historically crucial to trade between Cornwall, Wales and England.
The surrounding countryside is made up of beautiful moorlands, woods, valleys and coastal footpaths which is all part of the wider conservation area. Best local and nearby beaches include Crackington Haven which has lifeguards, toilets and refreshments (Dogs allowed off season only), Bossiney Haven, a wild beach offering all year access to dogs and another year round dog friendly surfing beach called Trebarwith Strand which includes all the necessary amenities. So whether you need child friendly self-catering cottages in Boscastle or pet friendly cottages by the sea, one of the holiday homes listed here should be perfect.
