What about a villa in Cyprus?

Friday 4th March 2011

Cyprus floats in the European Mediterranean, but purposefully points towards the shores of Syria, Turkey and Lebanon, which explains its exotic mixture of Western European culture and enchanting Middle Eastern promise.

It is a magical place that embraces a rich history, from the Egyptians to the Byzantine Empire. But although the Greek temples and Roman mosaics are magnificent, they are only a small part of this island’s beguiling charm. No matter which region you choose to holiday in, one of the Cyprus villas listed on Beachlets will always be within easy reach of the islands many treasures.

In Cyprus you will find pristine beaches, blooming orchards, blossoming hills, ancient ruins, picturesque mountain villages, beautiful churches and fascinating monasteries and museums. Add to this a bustling social scene and thumping nightlife along with friendly locals and you won’t want for more! But best of all, Cyprus has some of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean, particularly in the east, although on the south side of the Karpas peninsula lies a bay unrivalled anywhere in Europe.

Some of the beaches are even home to turtles and seals, a site not to be missed for those more adventurous travellers. Needless to say that with no less than 52 Blue Flag beaches on the island you are spoilt for choice. For those who want a bit more action than just lying on the beach (not that there is anything wrong with that), Cyprus caters for most of the popular sports, including fishing, golf, cycling, sailing/yachting, swimming, nature treks and all water sports. There can be few more pleasurable experiences than sitting in the open air on a balmy Cyprus night enjoying eastern culinary delights in the company of some locals. Whatever speed you choose to go, Cyprus is guaranteed to leave you wanting more.

When to go? The best time to enjoy a Cyprus villa holiday depends on the kind of experience you wish to have. With its intense Mediterranean climate, the island’s weather is easy to predict. The summer months of June to September are hot and action-packed. August in particular is the peak of Cyprus’ tourist season and very hot. But October to May are much quieter and the landscape is covered with wildflowers that seem to encompass every colour in the rainbow. One thing is for sure, self catering Cyprus villas are the perfect option when staying on this Mediterranean hideaway!
