There's no doubt that some of the most picturesque and idyllic beaches are on the Northern coasts of Britain. I'd go as far as to say that the North Sea has some of the most virgin, un-spoilt beaches in the whole of the United Kingdom. East Anglia and especially Northumberland are my favourites with their deserted beaches of powdery sands and wild dunes. Unfortunately the temperatures surrounding these virgin beaches don't always reach bikini temperatures, hence the deserted aspect. Yes, the sand may be white, the sea may be turquoise, and you may have sole possession of a Caribbean-esque shore, but those icy waves have a bit too much bite to take the plunge.
Of course we can't all afford Hollywood star seafront status, but you can stretch to five stars without the sea views of a beachfront holiday cottage. Cottages with hot tubs will adequately compensate for a longer stroll to the beach because they are the one luxury item that will turn your traditional summer holiday into an experience that you and the family will never forget. Those intimate moments of pure relaxation and togetherness, the exquisite feeling of how impossibly warm you can feel while staring at the stars, or watching the rain drop into the steaming water around you are surprisingly magical. This is when the guards come down and loved ones share all sorts of secrets and dreams, especially after a glass of champagne. And although there is generally a slight increase in price to rent holiday homes with hot tubs, it could save you money in the long run. For example on those nights you'd normally eat out, you might instead choose a takeaway and have a night in the hot tub, or the cooler days that require alternative entertainment and expensive attractions might be compensated instead with a bit of outdoor fun followed by a rewarding, restorative dip.
