St Ives is one of Cornwall’s most popular holiday destinations and not just for beach lovers during the summer months, it’s also a favourite for foodies all year round who don’t mind paying top dollar for some high end cuisine.
If you’re planning a five star Cornwall holiday then you simply must visit one of these fabulous eateries. Here are three restaurants to consider for your next gastronomic experience in St Ives.
Since opening its doors in 2008, Porthminster Beach Cafe has gained quite a reputation and following with rave reviews since it opened. You’ll find it on one of St Ives most beautiful beaches. Despite the casual connotations of a beach café, this is no ordinary café.
This is fine dining at its best, with a sophisticated Asian meets Mediterranean menu that relies wholly on fresh Cornish seafood and local produce. That said, it does sit right on Porthminster Beach and absorbs all of its magic, with relaxed ambience and views that stretch across the Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse.
This restaurant really is a treat to behold, so be wise and book well in advance.
Alba Restaurant has been open since 2002 and has quickly grown in popularity both locally and nationally since then. Alba also focuses on local produce, from local fisherman and farmers, serving seasonal local produce with a delicious modern twist.
The menu can only be described as eclectic Anglo-Med cuisine but the deserts are truly British and amazing. Here you can still take in exceptional views across St Ives Bay as the restaurant was formerly a lifeboat on St Ives wharf. Again make sure you book in advance.
The Loft is a new and super modern restaurant located in St Ives’ historic artist’s quarter. Its terrace offers fabulous views over the harbour and the impressive Cornwall coastline. This fashionable eatery is right on trend with a very mellow ambience and a super modern Mediterranean menu, but with a middle eastern twist.
Quite simply exquisite and like nothing you have tasted before. Lunch and dinners are very well priced and you don’t have to dress up. As with most fine dining experiences that are on trend you need to book way in advance.
