The Many Coastal Delights of East Anglia

Monday 31st July 2017

East Anglia’s vast and varied coastline is home to some of Britain’s best beach holiday resorts. Whether you’re after a classic traditional beach holiday, a tranquil coastal hideaway or a sporty getaway, you’ll find a large choice of beach holiday destinations along the coast of East Anglia.

Let’s begin with Suffolk which offers numerous atmospheric resorts including Kessingland and Lowestoft, both of which offer a certain elegance and pedigree of traditional British seaside fun.

Lowestoft has had millions of pounds pumped into its coastal renovation project to improve its award-winning beaches. Both beaches are very well organised and packed with summer entertainment and attractions. The sand is soft and golden and the promenade is lined with beach huts, pretty Victorian houses and gardens.

The facilities are excellent and there’s a great choice of cafes, ice-cream parlous and restaurants. You’ll love Lowestoft’s classic Claremont Pier which provides great fun for all ages and super views. There are plenty of attractions, events, donkey rides and beach activities held during the summer months to entertain the whole family and there are further attraction parks nearby including a Safari Park.

A little further south there’s Kessingland, another ideal holiday haven for families to hangout and enjoy the summer months. Thanks to an enormous top-notch beach and the neighbouring nature reserve visitors can relish the variety and contrast of active beach-trotting and peaceful nature trails.

The esplanade and quaint little village is equipped with plenty of cafes, shops and eateries to delight any taste and pallet and with the town centre nearby there is enough variety, activities and entertainment to please all comers.

Now we’re off to Norfolk, where idyllic dunes and soft, golden sands abound skirting popular seaside resorts including Wells Next the Sea, Scratby and Heacham. Heacham is a classic picturesque beach village that despite its diminutive size offers all the amenities necessary for an action-packed beach holiday.

Heacham offers two beaches, one sand and one pebble, known as Heacham South and Heacham North. There are also plenty of local village stores selling regional produce, gift shops, ice-cream outlets, trendy eateries and pubs catering for all budgets.

Heading East you’ll come across the popular seaside resort of Wells Next the Sea, a harbour town with a sandy beach backed by woods which you can reach in style via a steam railway. The town is tourist friendly with plenty to see and do including amusements, pubs and gift shops.

Scratby is a lovely little village near Great Yarmouth that boasts a large expanse of golden sand, known as Scratby Beach. The beach is well protected by a set of large boulders, sandy cliffs and sand dunes and if you're into surfing, there are some good waves when the westerly wind blows.

So there it is, a brief insight to the East Anglia Coast, perfect for beach holidays with family or friends or a suitable retreat for romantic couples escaping the day to day.
