There’s nothing better than a great coastal adventure accompanied by your ever grateful and appreciative furry friend. Watching your devoted pup bound about relishing every salty scent is the best. Anglesey is perhaps one of the perfect environments to set your pooch free, surrounded by nature, ocean, sandy beaches, and endless miles of craggy coastal paths to explore. All you need is a light rucksack, a worthy destination and a watering hole where you can rest your tired legs and replenish with a nibble and a doggy drink. So here are some perfect pooch-friendly places to discover.
Beaumaris is a beautiful destination with lots to see and offers a couple of dog friendly stops along with plenty of Anglesey dog friendly cottages for rent. Start your day’s hike with a Welsh breakfast and freshly ground coffee at the Pier House Café and Bistro right on the seafront overlooking the Menai Straits. Alternatively, if you land here in time for lunch or dinner then head for either the Bishopsgate House Hotel Bar and Restaurant lounge for exceptional cuisine or opt for some posh nosh and a game of pool at The Bold Arms.
The coastal walks around Benllech are legendary thanks to the epic Snowdonia landscape that provides an unforgettable backdrop to the coastal views in Anglesey. After a lung full of sea air you have three brilliant pet-friendly eateries to choose from, including The Island Cove Café, offering gourmet food and drink and The Benllech, offering super pub grub. Pebble’s Bistro is a more sophisticated option that is worth every penny thanks to their Mediterranean dishes and gravy bones which will no doubt delight your faithful canine.
The quaint little fishing village of Moelfre is a super little stop on the Anglesey Coastal Path, especially if you’re heading from Traeth ligwy. Enjoy a hot sandwich and coffee before you and your puppy begin your walk on the wild side at the dog friendly Lligwy Beach café and finish at Ann’s Pantry, a fabulous family-owned café that serves delicious savoury and sweet snacks perfect for lunch. Ann’s warm scones are to die for.
Rhosneigr has a glorious beach to stretch yours and your dogs legs and just above the beach is Wills Bar, a most welcoming and fantastic beach bar with comfy sofas that serves a mouth-watering menu along with a water bowl and biscuit for your happy hound. Not far from here on the High Street lies another cosy beachy alternative that welcomes pets called Sandy Mount House, offering just as tempting food and drink.
Lastly, Trearddur Bay is famous for its nature and wildlife rich trails with a beautiful bay to romp around. Here there are a couple of awesome cafes including the brand new café called Seacroft, which welcomes dogs on its huge decked terrace or around its roaring open fire inside. That said, lunch at the Sea Shanty Café is a feast not to be missed, with its delicious menu and great ice-cream selection.
