The award winning Tunnels Beaches are considered amongst the best sandy coves along the coast of North Devon. This curious name rightly refers to a network of tunnels that connects these sandy beaches to the coastal resort of Ilfracombe. This is a marine conservation area where families delight in exploring the numerous rock pools and huge tidal pool, which fills up after high tide.
There is a small fee to access the beaches but the impeccable management and safety of them make it well worthwhile. The facilities are excellent and include toilets, lifeguards, first aid, beach cafes, restaurants, a picnic site, water sports hire and a fun park. There are also various car parks with disabled parking, toilets and ramp access. No dogs are allowed on Tunnels Beaches.
