Porthcurno Beach

When Porthcurno comes into view it simply takes your breath away. It’s something to do with the white sand meets turquoise water combination. Photos just don’t do it justice. This is a cove that is sheltered by rocky outcrops on both sides and is surprisingly never crowded thanks to being tucked away out of sight. There are good parking facilities and toilets above the beach near the museum (including disabled facilities) but access to the shore is steep and impossible for pushchairs or wheelchairs.

That said it’s a great family beach with safe bathing, a Lifeguard service from June until September and at low tide the rock pools are full of sea life for the kids to explore. Surfers can also enjoy a ride or two depending on the weather conditions. There is a beach cafe a few minutes walk away and dogs are seasonally banned from Porthcurno beach from Easter to October. Nearby seaside resorts include Mousehole and Sennen Cove, both of which have great family friendly beaches.
