Malltraeth Beach
Malltraeth Sands, as it is also known, lies on the estuary of Malltraeth Bay. This wild and sandy beach is very popular with coastal walkers and nature lovers as it is teeming with marine life and aquatic birds. When the tide is low you can cross a sandy walkway to Llanddwyn Island known as ‘Lovers Island’.
Here you can visit the ruins of the church of St Dwynwen, the patron saint of Welsh lovers. Be prepared for a good walk as the car park is a good kilometre away in Newborough Forest. Dogs are allowed all year round but should be on leads until they reach the beach.
