Instow Beach

Instow Beach is a lively sandy beach that sits on the opposite side of the Taw Estuary to Appledore. It offers wonderful views over Appledore's sparkling white-washed village and green hilly backdrop and the sunsets are spectacular. It has quite a following in the summer months with enthusiastic young families coming to enjoy activities such as crabbing, fishing and water sports on this massive expanse of sand and water.

When the tide is in the windsurfing, kayaking and sailing are popular and when the tide is out the shallows attract sea birds and little explorers. Lifeguards patrol during the summer months and facilities include parking, toilets, a beach shop and disabled access via a slipway. Dogs are banned from the main beach from Easter to October but there are zones for them to exercise.
