Crantock Beach is an idyllic broad beach of fine golden sand, perfect waves and wild dunes. It is hard to understand why this beach never receives more acclaim, although it could be because the high tide covers a lot of the shore and access to the beach is via sandy dunes. Many of the people who use this beach tend to be surfers and in fact this is an exceedingly good beach for catching some of Cornwall’s best waves, whatever your level.
Indeed there are Lifeguards on duty during the summer and there is even a surf school based here, along with surf hire and other water sport hire, just behind the National Trust car park. Toilets are available at the car park, there are two great cafes that serve delicious meals so no need to bring a picnic and the good news for your four legged friends is that this is a dog friendly beach with no seasonal bans. There is plenty of accommodation in and around Crantock plus the self-catering apartments in Newquay just a short drive away.
