Bamburgh Castle Beach is stunning and boasts fine white sand that expands in all directions, colouring the water turquoise as far as the eye can see. No surprise that this is a heritage coastline and part of a national nature reserve. The abundant wildlife is best witnessed in the tidal lagoon on the north side of the beach, which fills twice a day and opens towards the most spectacular views over Holy Island.
If you follow the picturesque curve of the bay to the south you'll encounter an impressive castle embedded into the rock face above the sand dunes. There are enough facilities, including those for the disabled, for a day at the beach and the nearby quaint village of Bamburgh offers more eateries and shops.
